In an effort to create a safe and more sustainable campus, The University of Pennsylvania has embarked on a campaign to educate the community on bike riding policies and procedures.
This programming and outreach includes the installation of numerous bicycle racks in convenient locations:
• Garage #37 at 34th and Chestnut: 30 bike capacity (indoor and attended)
• Fresh Grocer Garage at 40th and Walnut: 30 bike capacity (indoor and attended)
• Richards Building: 2 new racks; 20 bike capacity (covered)
• Morgan Building: 2 new racks; 20 bike capacity
• Stemmler Hall: 2 new racks; 20 bike capacity (covered)
• Blockley Hall: 3 new racks; 30 bike capacity
• 12 additional on-street racks (24 bike capacity)
Penn Transit has also installed racks on the front of all their buses to encourage intermodal use and more options for cyclists.
The Division of Public Safety has Bicycle Safety Information and the University's Bicycle Policy here. Please note that the policy restricts bicycle use on central pedestrian arteries of the campus is enforced between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
