R. Tait McKenzie

The Canadian-born son of a Scottish immigrant minister, R. Tait McKenzie combined his knowledge of anatomy and gifts as a sculptor to create many works of art widely exhibited in this country and abroad. While most depict athletes in action, McKenzie also sculpted non-athletes, a number of which are included in this collection.

From 1904 until 1931, Dr. McKenzie served the University of Pennsylvania as Professor of Medicine and Director of Physical Education.
