Computer Equipment

Functioning Computers:

Donate your functional computer to the Center for Community Partnership's Digital Divide Program! The Digital Divide team uses technology to improve the quality of life in our immediate geographic area, the West Philadelphia community. The Digital Divide team will pick up your computer from campus. Follow this link to learn how to donate your old computer: http://www.upenn.edu/ccp/digitaldivide/donate.html

Non-functioning Computers:

Computer equipment like CPUs, monitors, and printers contain hazardous materials that should be recycled. Elemental Inc., a local Philadelphia business, is busy doing the right thing (they recycled over 2 million pounds of electronic surplus in 2001) and allows departments at Penn to recycle their broken computer equipment for a minimal fee! Here is the info:

Call Karen Petherbridge (215-289-1475) from Elemental Inc. for questions or to arrange a pickup. Elemental Inc. is an approved university vendor.

Pricing Information (includes pickup):
Monitor $12.00
Printer $2.00
CPU, Keyboard, mice, etc. No Charge.

They have a minimum pickup amount of $120 or 10 monitors, but they might be flexible on this.

Did you know?: An average CRT monitor contains 5 pounds of lead!
