The new website includes an interactive campus map. |
The Division of Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES) has launched a new departmental website as of June 2009.
FRES is responsible for the design, construction, operations, maintenance, and acquisition of all buildings, grounds, leased and public spaces on campus. The new site better reflects our services, is easier to navigate, provides more project and process information, and contains an interactive campus map.
"We wanted our new website to reflect the recent changes that have been made on campus. The map is a critical component of the site, and has been designed to accommodate future growth. " stated Anne Papageorge, Vice President of Facilities and Real Estate Services. The campus map which is used by students, staff, faculty, and visitors on a regular basis was designed with the Google Maps API, a programming application that allows you to customize your map, while maintaining all the expanded functionality of a Google map. Now, when you visit our "Campus Maps" page, you are able to select the type of building that you are looking for or enter it into the search box. Locations of University bike racks and public art are identified, and each icon has a pop-up window associated with it that provides a photograph with more information. Directions are easily available, using street view or by toggling between the satellite, Penn campus, and general Google Map views.
