Current Construction @ PENN

Student Health Service . 3535 Market Street

Student Health Service will move to a new home at 3535 Market Street in June 2008. The new site is currently a large office building already occupied by other medical offices. Student Health Service will occupy the entire first floor (third level), and will have twice as much space as the current Student Health facilities. Keep track of our progress as construction proceeds.

Highlights

  • More than twice the square footage of the current Penn Tower facility with increased clinical space.
  • Double "racetrack" layout, allowing for clearer traffic flow.
  • Improved privacy throughout health service.
  • Centralized functions.
  • Technilogical friendly - 6 self-check in kiosks - dedicated terminals for insurance & immunization entry/ information - EMR capable exam rooms.

Objectives & Design Principles

  • Our goals for the new Student Health Service are to maximize the level of privacy and patient confidentiality, to provide a sense of light and airiness throughout the center and to enhance systems for patient safety and quality of care with clustering of similar functions and modules, with improved patient flow and efficiency of care.

Architectural Team

  • The new Student Health Service is being designed by Francis Cauffman, an architecture, planning and interior design firm with extensive healthcare experience, including ambulatory care facilities. The team is led by Project Architect, Dilworth Yancey , and lead designer, Paula Miller.
