Boathouse, University of Pennsylvania
Located along Kelly Drive, Boathouse Row was created in 1858.
Planning Strategy:
The Additions & Renovation to the Penn Boat House consist of a complete upgrade of the facility. The design features a contextual expansion of the second-floor volume by demolition and reconstruction of the 1921 boat bay and super structure, with significant reconfiguration of the floor plan to allow for improved amenities throughout.
Program:
A two-story entrance lobby. A renovated second floor grand hall, including curated display of Penn Rowing memorabilia and artifacts. An expanded erg room also capable of hosting events, with room for 120 seated guests and an adjacent kitchen. Improved locker rooms, with equal space and amenity for men’s and women’s teams. Accommodations for ADA, including an elevator and dedicated ADA restroom/shower. Incorporation of modern MEP and FP systems.
