The Penn Vet Working Dog Center was established in 2007 as a national research and development organization dedicated to gathering scientific knowledge about the genetics, physical training, rearing, and conditioning of detection dogs. The Working Dog Center at Pennovation Works provides program space specifically designed for the study of search-and-rescue dogs, and the training of future working dogs.
